Days 68 - 72 - Monday through Friday (almost a whole week of tile, plus a final inspection)

It's been almost a whole week of almost nothing but tile. Kind of sounds like the theme of my kitchen remodel. . .

When we bought the tile, we bought a little bit extra, hoping that Brad could tile over the pink tile that used to be on the windowsill. You can kind of see what it used to look like here:

The kitchen sink window used to be even worse. The windowsill was really tiny - maybe only an inch or so deep - and of course, it was yellow with red accents.

I talked to Shane about the window over the sink, and he had this great idea to move the window itself out a few inches. So here is what it looked like before:

And here is what it looks like now, with Shane's and Brad's help:

Wow, huh! It's 4 1/2 inches deep now - plenty deep for mother's day potted plants, fresh herbs (in some dream world of mine!), maybe some wireless speakers, or anything else fun!

Here's the tile on the other windowsills -- it looks awesome too, huh!

Brad has also been working on the baseboards for us. I hate how wooden baseboards get all scuffed up so quickly. I feel like I repaint mine like every year or so -- and they still look terrible! So instead:

I don't know if you can tell, but that's a tile baseboard at the bottom of the picture. No painting! Ever!!
Brad finished the grouting yesterday, so he is officially done now (although he is coming by next week to seal my grout and also caulk the top edge of the baseboards)

You know what that means?? My kitchen is officially done. Wow! Done! We still have some odds and ends to do, and of course, some decorating (window seat cushion?? cute rugs??), but today was the final inspection.

72 days, and we are done!!
