Well, not much has changed today, but Shane got the permit taken care of! The good news: he was worried that it would cost $1000, but apparently he talked to someone who helped him get around some of the red tape, and was only $150! Good news for me -- maybe some of the additional money I budgeted for the permit can go for those smoke alarms . . .
